How to get to the Krom Luang pier in Laem Ngop near Trad
By private Car:
From Bangkok find your way to Suvarnabhumi airport, but continue to follow the Highway No. 7 (Tollway) all the way until you find the off ramp to Highway number 344 in the direction of Ban Bung and Kleang. This exit is located rougly 2 kilometers after the second Toll booth (30 baht per car per toll booth). Follow this road in the direction of Kleang where it rejoins Highway # 3. Turn left in the direction of Chantaburi and Trat. Continue until you pass the combined army and police checkpoint approximately 25 km's before Trad city. After this you turn right at traffic lights next to the gasoline station, about 1 Km further. There is a huge sign directing you towards Koh Chang on the opposite side of the road. Follow this road, passing both the Ao Thammachat (Koh Chang ferry) and Centerpoint ferry piers. Approximately 5 km's later there is a large gate (shown on the right) on the right side where you can turn to the Krom Luang pier from where the Leelawadee Speedboats and a slow boat depart. If you come to a junction with traffic lights, you missed the turn. Alternatively, you can follow the highway number 3 all the way through Trad city continuing on the same road for another 20 km's. When you find the traffic lights with a small police post right next to it, turn right and be on the lookout for the above mention gate and signs for a naval monument. Pass under this large gate, then follow the road until the junction to turn left. You will pass the Naval monument and find the large concrete Krom Luang pier on your right. Drive up the pier to unload luggage and ask our ticket booth staff for the secure parking lot where Parking is 50 baht per day. A motorcycle taxi will guide you there and drive you back to the boat. Total distance is about 350 kilometers.
